Academic Mentoring That Transforms

The Academic Center for Excellence offers a variety of free and comprehensive academic support to our students. We encourage you to visit our center, located in the Academic Commons on the first floor of E. H. Butler Library, where we can help you build your confidence and proficiency in writing, math, and other content areas while also sharpening your study skills. 


 

General Subject Support Services

Need help in a subject other than Math or Writing? This is the place for you!

Meet with an Academic Mentor (Tutor) in-person or virtual.

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Becoming an Academic Mentor

Are you interested in helping fellow students learn how to be successful at Buffalo State University? Do you have a passion for your major that you want to share with others? Become an Academic Mentor with the Academic Center for Excellence! We have employment opportunities throughout the year for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in helping their fellow Bengals succeed!

Qualifications to become an Academic Mentor:

  • Grade of "B" or better in the courses in which you mentor
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Reference/recommendation from a faculty member
